چکیده

Sansevieria trifasciata is one of popular ornamental plants which also believed possessing therapeutic effects due to their phytochemical constituents. Secondary metabolites can be toxic other organisms; therefore, toxicity studies must carried out investigate adverse prior further exploration as potent candidates medicinal plants. This research aimed evaluate and safety consuming chloroform extract S. leaf (CESTL) in acute phase using female Wistar rats model animal. Procedure referred OECD Guidelines for the Testing Chemicals, Test No. 420: Acute Oral Toxicity - Fixed Dose with single-dose administration 2000 mg/kg bw. Results demonstrated that during 14 days experiment, neither mortality sublethal signs were detected. There no significant differences experiment between treatment groups control body weight, core temperature, individual social behavior, food water intake, well hematological profile, clinical biochemistry parameters, relative organ weight (visceral organs indices). Almost all values maintained within normal range (baseline) fluctuation physiological dynamics appeared relatively similar groups. Therefore, it concluded no-observed-adverse-effect-level (NOAEL) oral CESTL dose bw classified hazard Category 5 based on Globally Harmonized System Classification Labelling Chemicals (GHS). Based this finding, we will continue conduct study assess repeated-dose toxicity.
